The lockdown was a confusing and disorientating period when, confined behind doors and fences, we felt both connected to and disconnected from one another. This is a diary recording national and personal events starting on 23 March 2020. At the time I was afraid I might catch the virus and never finish it. For that reason I made it open-ended, stitching the lettering on to individual ‘tapes’ which I made day by day. I decided to end it in late May when the restrictions began to lift. I wove the tapes in and out so that the verticals interrupt the text on the horizontals, reflecting the disruption to everybody’s lives.
