Jo Chapman
Jo works primarily in sculpture and installation often being commissioned to make permanent site specific work in public spaces.
Originally trained in embroidery, at the core of Jo’s work is drawing and an involvement in the ways that the act of drawing can be translated into different materials.
“I have developed work through a gradually evolving range of formats and moving between the boundaries of sculpture, embroidery, drawing and architecture."
“Although the materials I use have changed along with the scale of the projects, a preoccupation with the use of line and detail have remained constant throughout.”
For Art at Home, Jo has produced a new and unique set of small sculptures handmade using a mix of materials such as aluminium, card, wood, wax, resin and thread.
Jo lives and works in Suffolk and occasionally in France. She has an MA Fine Art, Norwich School of Art & Design and BA Hons Embroidery, UCE Birmingham School of Art and Design.
