This is a cat slinking around Dickens’ ‘Old Curiosity Shop.’ One of the artists I share a studio with has a room packed with old Victoriana – taxidermy birds, old dolls and vintage cards with cowboys on the back. Working next to this space got me thinking about the novel, and I wanted to create an image of this beautiful, jumbled interior with everything from another century lying about. The cat came later, as I felt like any proper old Curio shop would have one prowling around.
